LadyBug turns 2

Lilly Turned 2 yesterday.  We had a few difficulties planning her birthday.  We knew we were going to be in NC so that meant she was not going to have any family with her.  Knowing we had to make it extra special, we decided to take her to Carowinds water park for the day.  She LOVES water and swimming.  "Fimmin" as she calls it.  THEN, we realized the good ol' DNC was going to be in Charlotte.  There was no way I was going to take a normally 45 minute trip to a theme park and have it turn into an all day adventure in the car.  We would have to pass right by Charlotte and I can't even fathom the traffic.

We decided it would be better to take her to the lake for some "fimmin", "Shishin", and playing in the sand.  Lil liked the plan so that is what we went with.

Dave and I assembled her birthday gift late the night before.  We gave her a step 2 cozy cottage.  It only took a drill and polishing off a bottle of tequila to complete.  She came down the stairs and screamed, "My house!".  My heat melts.  She played in it all morning.  She would not even eat her special Mickey pancake breakfast because she just wanted to bring every toy she owned into her new house.

While she played, Dave and I packed up lunch and all the beach gear.  Off we went and it was quite the afternoon!  She loved being able to go in and out of the water on her own.  Her and Daddy went off to the pier at one point to go "shish".  Normally when we use bread as bait, she eats it.  This time she just threw it all into the water.  "Shishing" was short lived.

After a long afternoon of sand 'N' sun, we piled in the car and it was naps all around as we drove home.  We planned a special BBQ, since it was labor day, of some of Lil's favorite foods.  Baked beans, corn, cheeseburgers with ketchup (ketchup being the only reason she eats the burger) and pasta salad.  Topped it off with brownie sundaes and blowing out two sweet little candles.

As her Daddy was about to put her to bed, she came over to kiss me goodnight and said, "I had fun, Momma!".  It is amazing how all the worries an adult has about raising their child can be put to bed by that child.  All the concerns I had about her not having an amazing second birthday were gone once she expressed her joy over the day.

I love that little girl and cannot believe she is 2.
